VITAMIN D THAT GREW THAT WAY

Most vitamin D supplements start with a vitamin and look for something to put it in. This one starts with mushrooms, which produce vitamin D2 on their own when they're exposed to ultraviolet light, and simply dries and mills them. What you're left with is an ingredient list two mushrooms long, both of them organic certified, with the vitamin D already in place rather than added at the end.

100% VITAMIN D MUSHROOM POWDER

ONE TEASPOON, WHEREVER IT FITS

This is the rare supplement that behaves like an ingredient, which makes it far easier to keep up with. Stir it through your morning coffee, blend it into a smoothie, or hold it back for dinner and whisk it into a soup, a sauce or a marinade where it adds a savoury depth of its own. A teaspoon is all it takes, so a single 100g pouch carries 100 serves and stays useful right across the day.

FAQ - VITAMIN D MUSHROOM POWDER

How does mushroom powder contain vitamin D?

Mushrooms produce vitamin D2 naturally when they're exposed to ultraviolet light, which is the same basic process your skin uses. The vitamin D2 in this powder comes from the mushrooms themselves, so there's no added vitamin in the ingredient list.

How much vitamin D is in a serve?

Each 1g serve provides 31.3µg of vitamin D2, which is 313% of the recommended dietary intake, making it a good source of vitamin D2.

What's the difference between vitamin D2 and D3?

D2 is the form produced by plants and fungi, while D3 is the form produced by animals and by human skin. D2 is the vegan-friendly form, and it's the one that occurs naturally in mushrooms.

Does it taste strongly of mushroom?

Not particularly. The flavour is mild and savoury, and in coffee or a smoothie most people don't pick it out at all. In cooking it reads as depth rather than as mushroom.

Is a scoop included?

The serve is measured as one level teaspoon of approximately 1g, so an ordinary kitchen teaspoon is all you need.
